CMLIT 012: Introduction to World Drama
Semesters: Fall 2019
Introduction to World Drama is a general education course offered in the Comparative Literature department, which seeks to acquaint students with drama across forms, time periods, cultures, and linguistic origins. My design for this course emphasizes how drama is transformed and translated, how artistic works can be colonial, colonized, or resistant in different ways, and the importance of place, community, and belonging in a comparative context. Students develop skills to recognize and value different forms of knowledge and artistic production and to understand the cultural and political milieux that surround the production and reception of dramatic works.
